There appears to be a misunderstanding of CBS News's position. Here is what CBS News says: CBS News cannot prove that the documents are authentic, which is the only acceptable journalistic standard to justify using them in the report. And here is what Jay Rosen says in linking to that very statement: CBS News, having now admitted that documents it relied on were inauthentic[...]. That is not what CBS News has admitted. They say they don't know, because they can't prove the authenticity of a photocopy one way or another. Rosen goes on to make some reasonable predictions of what will happen next. |
